    Moved to Canada but don’t know where to send your child for schooling? Well, don’t worry because Canada has some of the best schools and that too, you would be glad to know, affordable ones. According to Canadian law, all children must go to school. Children from the age of five or six start to go to school and wind it up by the age of sixteen to eighteen, depending on your territory or province.

    Some details about Canadian schools:

    • Children start going to school from KG and continue till class 12.
    • A one-year session of school starts towards the end of August and finish towards the end of June.
    • The schools are open for 5 days a week, from Monday to Friday and are closed on Saturdays and Sundays and other holidays.
    • If children complete high school or secondary school successfully then high school diplomas are given to them.

    If you, along with your family, arrive in the country of Canada during the school calendar of the year, then you need to contact the local school board to enroll your child.

    There are different types of schools like French or English schools, at-home education, paid private schools and free public schools. And, it completely depends on the parents as to what type of schooling they want for their child. You will need to contact the ministry of education for the same.

    School boards

    Different boards are managed by different schools basis their locality. Different types of boards are also called – district education, councils, school divisions, and school districts. These boards take care of things like school buildings. Administration, staff and student enrollment. The heads of these schools are chosen by people of that area.

    So, now that you know the basics of Canadian schools, you must take a call on which school to choose basis your territory and province. Canadian schools are really good so even public education is as good as private ones.
