Transit passes are one of the most important things for you if you tend to travel a lot so try to get it as soon as you reach Canada. For the unversed, transit cards or passes are basically, travel cards which are also referred to as a train pass or bus pass. It allows the passengers to either take unlimited trips in a fixed period or a certain number of already purchased trips.

Depending on how much it is used and the transport network, discounts are also given which makes your travel way, way cheaper. Those who usually get a discount are employers, specially-able people, senior citizens, students, etc. Some public transports give special discounts to a certain type of personnel as well like active military, firefighters, police officers and others.
There are different types of transit passes

    1. Day pass. You can get this on the bus that you board. They offer unlimited rides for that day and are useful for 24 hours.
    2. Weekly pass. While some allow you to start these passes on any day, others are quite particular and give you passes either from Sunday to Saturday or Monday to Sunday. This one also allows you to take unlimited rides in a week.
    3. Monthly pass. It is a 30 or 31-day pass which doesn’t necessarily have to start from the first of every month. You get to take unlimited rides with this pass too.
    4. Annual pass. This one also has countless rides for you but it is even better because you get better discounts on this than what you get on monthly passes.
